my Avid system with window xp service pack 2 show -"Reboot and select proper Boot device or insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key"

Do you have an USB stick or DVD in the PC? If not go in the BIOS and set the boot order to the hard drive with your OS as the first boot device.
