Noob CPU question

Ok so this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103896 CPU has a rating of 3.1 GHZ. Is this 3.1GHZ per core or total? So does the CPU have a total of 6.2GHZ or 3.1GHZ? I am getting mixed answers on this please help me out.

It's 3.1 Ghz per core. It does not add up to 6.2Ghz.

I answered what he asked. You have 2 x 3.1Ghz chips not 2 combined into one 6.2 Ghz chip.

LOL - think of it this way - if you're in a car with 4 wheels, each moving at 60 mph, does that mean the car is going 240 mph??
