More about system guys
  1. Can you give some more info on what you'll be using it for, your budget, priorities (speed vs quiet vs price), etc? I'm guessing HTPC due to the TV tuner?
  2. Ooops sorry.
Gonna use it for games, movies, music and so on.
Wanna be able to play new games coming out. Dead Space2, Portal 2, Crysis 2, Dragon age 2, the new Elder scrolls (Lots of #2 sequels this year o.O)
Also gonna live stream movies/videos to my TV.

I just want an all around strong PC that will last me awhile.

Sorry forgot to add this in the first post.
    Thanks chnathan

Do you have a link? The only article I can find on TH referring to that RAM is this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/newegg-combo-toms-hardware,2753-5.html and it doesn't appear to say anything except that it's good value.
  8. uhhh, it was the december SB, I think....

That's what I linked to. They pointed out the value of the Mushkin Enhanced Silverline RAM. The only negative thing said about it -I see now- was that you can't get a large overclock. (They could 'only' get it to 1400MHz, CL8.) But with Sandy Bridge, there's very little reason to overclock your RAM, since you can overclock the CPU using the multiplier.

All that said, there's a great deal on right now for this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260&cm_re=corsair-_-20-145-260-_-Product

Since it's the same price after rebate as the Mushkin 1333s, might as well go for the faster speed. I wouldn't pay more than a few bucks premium for it though.
  10. ... paying for better RAM is worth it... but that is a nice deal, corsair is meh on ram.

Respectfully disagree. Paying for faster ram speed or better timings is almost certainly inferior to spending more on the CPU, graphics card, or elsewhere. See this article for example: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ram-speed-tests,1807.html . There are many more.

Fast RAM becomes even less useful with Sandy Bridge, since the CPU can be overclocked without changing the bus speed.
  12. *shrugs* I dunno on SB, I honestly haven't had much time to read many reviews...
