Upgrading question

Hello,
Right now I have a I5 3.2Ghz 8 Gig DDR3 ram and 2 HD5770 1 gig each would it be best to just upgrade to the new GTX580 or upgrade to an I7.. I have been looking at either an I7 950 or the I7 970 hexacore. or does my system still have the specs that are good... I noticed I tried to play F1 2010 at 1920x1080 it wasn't suttering but I could tell it wasn't as smooth as other games.

You could ask on the particular game's forums, since most of us would be unfamiliar with it. You could try and monitor CPU & GPU activity level to see which one is the bottleneck.
