I have a Dell Dimension 8400 ...It seems That the main case cooling fan wants to lift off like a saturn 5 after about 30 min of game play...temps are coming in at about 100 on the HDD and 126 on the GPU .yet the fan continues to increase speed ??? There is an aux cage cooling fan that is running low and slow...? I am confused as to what to do. I read online there is software to control fans...anybody got any real life experience doing this? What and how do you use it? Anybody got any leads on a system specific version for a Dell 8400 ? Or would there be something more sinister going on here? Thanks

A Dell 8000 series is overdue for replacement,i replaced mine 2yrs ago.
Chances are the fans are on their last legs and need replacing.
Also check your gpu to see if it's fan is still spinning.
Both the temps you mentioned are in the danger zone imo.
Download HWMonitor to see system temps.
I'd be very careful until you replace the fans.
Excellent point easymoney9!

I used to have one of these computers and had the same problem; I used to use speed fan to control the speed of the CPU fan , however I subsequently found that the BIOS enables you to control the speed of this fan and set the maximum temperature so I didn’t need to use speed fan
