I want to know if you have or plan to compare benchmarks between a Radeon HD5970 2GB single card vs Two Radeon HD6970 1GB cards setup in Crossfire?
I actually have 2 cards of each(still in the box) but possibly want to put the two 6970's into a new build (only if they are all around better/faster) rather than a single HD5970 2GB.This is the parts I have for the build(all still in the unopened boxes).Case CoolerMaster-HAF932, Mobo-Asus RampagelllExtreme, Intel i7-980 Extreme,Corsair Dominator 6X2GB(12GB) DDR3 2000MHz, CoolerMaster 1250Watt PSU, HP ZR30w 30" S-IPS Performance series LCD Monitor,Plextor PXB940SA 12x Bd writer, Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP Combo BD DVDRW 12X Li,Madcatz Cyborg R.A.T.9 Gaming Mouse,Cooler Master Hyper212+ cpu air cooler,Storage- One 2 TB Western Digital Caviar Black and one Western Digital 2TB Green. I need to choose a SSD for the boot drive- probably a 256GB? and I have a new Windows7 Ultimate 64bit full installdisc in the box.
I will not be overclocking to the max, I am not a avid gamer but want the best I can get from the parts I have when I do game. I have on order- Razer BlackWidow Ultimate gaming keyboard,I also will use office 2010 pro 64bit, Adobe etc.
Please give me your thoughts, advice.and of course the GPU comparison and if a particular SSD is a good choice.
Thank you
Chuck

I want to clarify that I erroneously mentioned in the body of my request comparing one HD5970 to Two HD6970's.
I had the heading right.....it should have been the HD5970 compared to two 6870's in crossfire.

Sorry for the mis-type

Hey, 2 6870's will outperform the 5970 by a lot as they have better scaling and a 5970 GPU=A 5850 basically.(I know they are 5870 potato chips but still). The two 6870 is a much better option unless you get the 5970 really cheap.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I thought.......and although I do have 2 of the 5970's I was hoping that the 2 6870's would outperform one 5970....as I can use that extra 5970 in another upgrade......
BTW
Newegg has the sapphire HD59702GB GPU on special righ now for $499.00 plus a $30.00 rebate......brings it to $439.00- but they charge tax.......at least in Ca. Free shipping though.

Thanks again...............I'd still love to see some benchmark tests on 2 HD6870's in crossfire just to see how they stack up against ATI's HD59702GB and even 2 5970's in crossfire........what the heck!!!

I did do my research and purchased the two HD5970 months ago since they are the fastest overall single GPU on the market. However The 6870 recently came out with great reviews and enhanced features---So since I am building a new rig, plus I have 2 others that could use upgrades I purchased 2 6870's. I simply wanted to know the performance of 2 6870's in crossfire vs 1 5970. Or as I assume I can pair the 2 5970's for best results. I just was looking for a comparison since I saw none online ie 5970 vs paired 6870's.
I have been purchsing the parts for the past 4-6 months and still want to get an SSD and am waiting for the Razor Blackwidow Ultimate keyboard. I am in no rush to slap the rig together. Just seeking advice from those that have been doing this awhile.

So, yes I can take pic's......do you want to see all the parts in the boxes or just my 4 GPU's? If you want all it will have to be several pics if you want close ups - so as to read the labels etc.

Plus---- can I attach the pics to this comment section? I am new to this forum and do not see that I can attach a Jpg file or more.
