I'm looking for a "true" 5.1 or 7.1 surround headset. I rent a room so noise leakage might be an issue. I also have a large melon for a head. These headphones will be staying in my room always unless there's a fire.

My mobo comes with these audio specs. It can support 7.1 surround sound.
SupremeFX X-Fi built-in 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- EAX® Advanced™ HD 4.0
- X-Fi CMSS®-3D
- X-Fi Crystalizer™
- Creative ALchemy
- Supports Blu-ray audio layer content protection
- Supports 1 Optical S/PDIF out port at back I/O
- Supports 1 x S/PDIF out header
- Supports Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking

I'm debating between ROCCAT Kave and Psyko Carbon (If anyone has any experience with these please let me know what you think of them.)

I'm using these mostly for gaming but I would like to watch blu-ray movies on them. I honestly don't watch a lot of movies now because my speaker system is boxed away and all my movies sound like crap on my monitor speakers.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Headphones I've looked at and rejected.
Razor (anything) - Simulated 5.1/7.1
Corsair - Simulated 5.1/7.1
Logitech G(whatever) - Simulated 5.1/7.1
Tritton - made by MadCatz as I can tell. I hate Madcatz.

Thanks again.

Tarvaln,

I have a set of Speed link Medusa 5.1 surround headset that is fantastic.

Look for the Medusa series at the bottom of the URL page.

Very comfortable, unbelievable surround sound,
I highly recommend these over Sennheiser.

Very few headsets are going the genuine 5.1 route at this point; most are using virtualization [which I note works in some instances BETTER then real surround, due to not having to balence each driver].

I WAS going to recommend the Tritton AX Pro's, but you've already rejected them from your list. I believe the Astro A40's are true 5.1, but cost an arm and a leg...
