need repar manual for Kodak DC-290
Kodak, being the proprietary schmucks that they are, refuse to sell me a
repair manual.
At any price.
Probably this way with all the manufacturers, non ?

I am sure it is. Such things are usually proprietary and protected by
trade secrets laws.

Greetings Charles,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the camera. Great camera and I
understand your interest.
I wish I could get you a service manual, Charles, but I am afraid they are
not available and are only used by our service teams for training and
reference. They are not for sale or distribution outside of Kodak.
Servicing a digital camera is complex and there are high voltage charges
possible from the camera, i.e. flash and more.
One thing you might want to check is to be sure the card in the camera is
OK, use a new or card that you know is in good condition and formatted as
FAT. A corrupt card or image on a card can cause you a problem. Give that a
try, and of course, with batteries that are fully charged. Since there is a
large power requirement as the camera is being booted up, regular alkalines
may not be enough.
Good luck, sorry we cannot get you the manual.
