Hello,

And will it play games like Crysis 2 and the upcoming Battlefield 3 on its highest setting and highest resolution smoothly?

Hi ostitcho and welcome to Tom's hardware forums.

The parts you have listed should work beautifully together and you will be able to max out Crysis 2 very easily.

But it's hard to say what can run Battlefield 3 at the moment since it's unreleased, but I'm sure you'll be able to turn up the details to very high levels, if not maximum but as I said before, it's impossible to say.

Good configuration.. However i'll recommend the following changes -

1. Go for 8 GB ram.

2. If you do not intent on using the system for anything but gaming then consider getting the i5 2500k.

3. You have not mentioned the PSU and case. Do not skimp on quality while deciding for either of them. I recommend going for a minimum 850 watt PSU.

4. The stock cooler with these LGA 1155 processors is not that great. Spend some bucks towards getting a better cooler.

Get a Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) RAM Kit. For a tower, you might need a big tower thanks to the GTX 580 but you can have a look at the CM 690 II Advanced or HAF 922 to see if it fits in the GTX 580.
