For games, there's little difference in fps, not worth $100, get the i5 2500k. Video editing, rendering and other cpu intensive tasks will probably want the i7.
As I said before, there is little difference in fps for games so both are pretty much equal for staying future proof. Unless those other tasks is what you need it for.
