Relatively new to building PC's, my last one was 4 years ago, so I would certainly appreciate any helpful feedback

Approximate Purchase Date: Within this upcoming month (february)

Budget Range: Rs 40,000(approx. $850)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, watching movies, surfing the internet

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, mouse, speakers, case, OS

*OS - Have Windows 7

Country of Origin: India

Parts Preferences: I would like to make this an AMD based rig with a 23" LCD

Overclocking: NO

SLI or Crossfire: NO

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I would like a quiet PC and able to play games at high settings

Thanks in advance!

Ok here is something I came up with for starters

MTHBD
ASRock 880G EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 880G
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157191
or
ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157198

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808
MeM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277
HD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
PS: Antec EA 650W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015
Graphics: ASUS EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5/V2 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121419
Monitor: ASUS VH236H Black 23" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236059
Total Comes to $693.93 with Shipping and Taxes (excluding rebates)

Now I went with both boards incase you change your mind and wish to overclock and use crossfire. You could also upgrade to a better graphics card. But I will let you decide on that. :kaola:

Thanx for the config. Probably go with ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870.

And what parts could I get in Intel for for the same price.

i agree with cthunder067.
intel will be more expensive! but in gaming the i5 processer is better than the amd phenom ii x4 955. so according to your budget build an amd rig. dont worry.... in gaming the gpu does most of the work!
so i would go with

amd phenom ii x4 955 black edition
asrock 870 extreme3
radeon 5870 or the 6850 (the 5870 is better)
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
if you get short in cash buy a used pc case and invest the saved money on a good gpu.

Sorry I was at work. :heink:
Ok the board I recommend and the lowest sandy bridge processor would set you back a pretty penny.

$123.99US
ASRock P67 PRO3 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157222

$209.99US
Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115073

And I can only imagine what a Sandy Bridge processor would cost in India :ouch:

Seriously I would just stick with AMD build and be happy.

I haven't forgotten about you. My first build was 40,000 without a monitor. Oh speaking of monitors, you definitely need to find a better place than this site. The cheapest 23in monitor was over 11, 000. Anyways I will try and get the price lower than 40,000. Probably means you will have to go with a 640hd instead of 1TB.
