What size of cpu do i need for gaming

Hello,i got assessment task and wondering what size of cpu will i need to get if i am havin? a gaming night at my school/as well as what sound will be the best as well as what will be te best 5 games?

a bottom end build an be made for as little as $450 (Athlon II X3, 4 GB RAM, GTS 450, in a barebones case and PSU), assuming you have an OS, keyboard, and monitor.
this will run games adequately, but not at maximized settings.
for about $600, you can get a phenom quad core, and a 6850.
around $800 an up its a sandybridge system.
