Torn on what set-up to do.

Hello all,

I plan to build a gaming rig and I have chosen most of the parts already. However I am torn on what set up I plan to do for the video cards as this also effects on my decision on a PSU.

If I plan to only buy a single HD 5970 card and not crossfiring down the future, should I just go with a SLI/crossfire set-up such as 2x GTX 470's? I'm not sure if there is an article on here, as I cant find it in the search bar. Performance wise which would be better of the two options?

Thanks!

EDIT: Sorry about that I'm a dummie and should have read through the FAQ stickied at the top.

2x470s could outperform the 5970 by up to 70% in some games, and in some games the 5970 would outperform the 2x470 by up to 25%. See those conlusions:

I would recommend getting a 580 and SLi it in the future.

What psu do you suggest, if In the future I do SLI 2x 580s ?
  3. 850W PSU should be ok. Do you plan on overcloking your PC?
  4. I do, once I get more time to read up on more articles and exactly how to overclock, but I do plan on overclocking
  5. Hmm, the best PSU available would be this one:

You won't need that much power, but this PSU will make you forget about power requirements.

This one is more affordable and is the best IMO of the 1000W PSUs:

Those 2 should be considered if you plan to overclock. Even without the overclock, they are both great PSUs.
