Hello, will be buying gtx580 & and want use current gtx285 for phyisics, will it work?. Using core i7 920, gigabyte x58-ud3, 1kw psu, 6gig ram - Thanking you kindly, peter

Solution
Yes, it should work just fine. Just make sure you have enough power (looks good from your original post) and cooling/airflow. Good luck!

Hi, well i suggest you forget about that. The gtx285 consumes a lot of current, even at idle and there are really few games that use video card PhysX. It will work, if you want you can use it.

Thanks for your input ionut19. power usage is not an issue for me. and yes there are very few games that use physics at the moment, but they will increase. once i have 2 x gtx580 in sli i should be able to play ALL games maxed out, except for maybe the new crysis 2. and will kep my old 285 as a backup spare. thanks again.
