hi, I'm looking to buy a new machine for gaming. Since this is my 1st gaming machine, i would like to have some advices.
Configuration:
Processor: PHENOM II AM3 X4 965blk
Motherboard:ASUSM4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

RAM:Mushkin Silverline 1333 8GBx2
HDDD:1TB samsung 32M 7200rpm

My questions:
1: Will this hav any bottlenecks??
2: CAn i use this for gaming(high quility) for about 2 to 3 years?
3: 8GB of RAM is ok or 16GB of RAM would make it extremly faster??
4:What i should do for cooling?? (I can send about 110USD)
And also i would like to have some other opinions as well

1) What country are you in ?

2) What's your total budget, and does it include Windows ?

3) Do you have a monitor, and if so what is the resolution ?

That store is located in India so see first if they ship to Sri Lanka. Put that on so you can safely over clock that cpu when you feel the need. Otherwise that pc looks good...not sure about the power supply, but for one vid card it should do fine, if and when you add another card you might want to change out that psu.

8 gigs of RAM is over kill for a gaming pc, let alone 16gb

See first if that CM V6 will fit on that board. It got good reviews...that much I do know.

If I were you I would get an I5 2500k for gaming, you can overclock it 5.0 ghz stable. Be sure to get a good mobo, most likely an asus or gigabyte, make sure they have usb 3.0. Get 8gb of 1600 g. skill memory. Also try throwing in a 130$ ssd drive so you can install your os on. For a cpu cooler check out the cooler master frio it's the ***. Don't go with an amd cpu they are way slow compared to the intel chipsets. Make sure to get a crosair psu at least 850 W and good case.

If it were only that easy. Not even India has received the new Sandy Bridge yet. Unless the OP has a connection to somewhere like Australia, EU or US...he's limited to AMD and/or Intel 1336 / 1156.

You do realize a I5 2500k is going for $210US? I can only imagine what it would be going for in India. :ouch:

Dude the guy lives in sri lanka

anyway cooler master is not known for it's good psu's go with antec if possible.

Sandy bridge is the new intel architecture on the lga 1155 socket probably hard to come by or expensive for you.

Going with what you have so far AMD is good enough and amd is cheaper.
You should base your decision on price, what are you willing to spend. AMD is sufficient however intel core i5 2500k (you need the k otherwise you can't overclock) is faster in both games and other apps. Also for intel you need a p67 board otherwise overclocking is a no go.
5gig overclock is really pushing it for someone who has little to no overclock experience. 4.0-4.5ghz is as far as I advise to go which is still a great overclock.

Yes because of your amd radeon 6970 it will do real nice.

Would you also be so kind as to post the price of the motherboard you had selected for your amd build.

And could you look up your local price for the Asrock P67 EXTREME4?

I'm Just saying if you can wait to get a hold of an I5 2500k you should, it absolutely destroys any amd chip sets right now on the market. It has the best overclocking ability and It uses the least amount of watts. It is definately worth the wait if it is not available right now. It sells for 228$ U.S. right now. Get a corsair psu or a kingwing. Cooler master is only known for it's cases and it's cpu cooling. Do not buy an Amd processor, you will be sorry in the bigger scheme of things.

The phenom's II x 6 can't even keep up with an intel I7 920 and the chip set is almost two years old, Amd should be ashamed right now. Not since the Pentium 4 years has Amd been faster. I'm not an intel fan boy, I'm just saying to get the best performance for your dollar.

How much cooling would i need with a i5 2500k OC ? can you giv me a link??

It all depends on the price, if you have to pay 350 bucks for an intel MB and processor combo and 200 bucks for an amd set up intel is not worth the extra 150. It's just not cost effective, especially since your gpu is good. if you had a 6870 radeon it would be a different matter.
That's why I asked for the asrock price since it's a relatively cheap 1155 socket motherboard with good performance.

If your not going to crossfire or modify, you can get away with a 650w psu. No need to pay the extra money.
