Just an alternate suggestion, I made a few compromises to fit in that i5-2500K:
    Rosewill DESTROYER
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM
    LG DVD GH22NS50B
    SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 500GB
    OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W
    A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600
    ASRock P67 Extreme4
    i5-2500K + XFX Radeon HD 6870
Use promo codes: CEMCKJHD22, CEMCKJHD32 and CEMCKJHD52 to save 30$
    Total should be ~960$+tx+shipping - 30$ promo codes - 70$MIR
  2. If you can fit in a Hyper 212 Plus as well, you will be able to OC that CPU to at least 4.4-4.5GHz, it can also wait until you order that 2nd HD 6870 card.

Yes, both Crossfire and SLI at x8x8, but it doesn't make a difference compared to x16x16.

Using the 3 promo codes as well? Including the 70$ MIR?
  7. If you really prefer the Sandy Bridge, you can also consider switching the HD6870 combo with this HD6850 combo, it would reduce the cost by another 36$.

yeah the cost i told you includes the discounts but not the mir. damn them taxes :/
  9. Without the os the Sandy bridge build cost me 995 that includes tax + shipping. i guess ill go for linux for now? i really want sandy bridge lol. i have been hearing very good stuff about it. and i looked at benchmarks and it's almost close to it's brother processor lol.
  10. Yes you can use Linux, I don't know how much gaming you could do in Linux tho. You could also check if you would have access to a Windows license any other way like through your job or through school.
  11. ahh yes ill try to see whati can scratch to it. linux is an alternate for now til i get an extra for windows. Thanks for your help!
