Thoughts? should i go intel instead? this build will cost me around $1045 canadian(includes shipping and tax).will get about 50$ worth of rebates.

Without the os the Sandy bridge build cost me 995 that includes tax + shipping. i guess ill go for linux for now? i really want sandy bridge lol. i have been hearing very good stuff about it. and i looked at benchmarks and it's almost close to it's brother processor lol.

Yes you can use Linux, I don't know how much gaming you could do in Linux tho. You could also check if you would have access to a Windows license any other way like through your job or through school.
