Hi there everyone. I've been thrown a computer to try and fix and nothing I am doing seems to be helping at all.

The mobo is a P5G41C-M LX.

No network controllers are being detected at all. In device manager there is nothing in there for the ethernet controller on the mobo at all.

I've tried installing the chipset and LAN drivers from the asus support page with no luck at all.

I took the ram out for a few minutes to see if that would wake the controller up but it didn't.

I then tried the 'netsh winsock reset' which apparently worked for some with the same problem.

I have no idea what else to try, the network cables are fine as they work on the machine I have sitting next to it at the moment and I had reformatted the PC.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

It is possible that the controller is bad. A basic network add-on card should solve that problem, at least for testing purposes, then the owner can decide if he/she wants to get one or not. If the remainder of the hardware is good, it would be a shame to junk the PC just for lack of a network card.

That is what I am thinking too, $10 gigabyte ethernet PCI card would do it.
