Need Help choosing Case, and Motherboard

Hi, I'm thinking about building a new gaming computer because I feel like the one I have now (HP) is not giving me the performance I want. I already have components that im currently using I can just move them over to the new system.

Parts I already have:

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870

Ram: Corsair XMS3 6GB

PSU: OZC ModXStream 600Watts Modular

Parts for sure I'm gonna buy:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Quad Core Black Edition

Parts I need (let me know if these are good or not):

Motherboard:

MSI 790FX-GD70 (I can get this motherboard for about $100)

GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

Case:

COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP

LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62

My budget is about $200-$350 that includes the CPU. so the motherboard and Case has to be give or take around $200.
I'm not looking for and extreme gaming PC or anything just something that's reasonable. If there are any other motherboard or case you recommend in the price range please let me know thanks. and sorry if I made a mistake, still new to all this custom PC deal.

Thanks Again.

  1. Hello HiepNotik;

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO to go with the Phenom II X4 955 I think.
The 3 x 2GB triple channel RAM kit is not what you want for your build. A 2x2GB kit is what you want.

Case choice is about equal in quality and performance. Choose the one you like the best.
  2. If you can get the 790FX-GD70 for 100$ then that is probably what I would get, I wanted it until 890FXA came, then I decided to get the 890FXA-UD5.

I personally got the CM 690 2 Advanced because of its room behind the mobo, space, and top notch parts which in include one of a kind bracket to hold up my heavy gpu and HD hotswap on top!

If your on budget there are two that are considered "Budget" cases

I would get one of these two cases, and get a better motherboard!
  3. I personally would go with a intel chipset over amd's. I have read blogs and in general they are a better performance and stability. though certain games play better on different systems and setups. So your almost tailoring your pc for a specific game or need these days. Amd cores are ok but intel tops them, however they are so rudely priced that I feel its not worth it untill they drop about half what they are which could take a year until they come out with something new to overprice. Still I would stick with Intel and one video card is more compatible with programs than an sli or crossfire setup.

If you found a nice mobo for a $100 that supports all the nice up to date components such as ram, video card and processor then definately get that. I work with an intell 2.4ghz core 2 quad on an asus mobo i got 3 years ago and it still works like a charm.

If he only had 200$ and thats all, if he got a 50-55$ case, that would leave him almost 150$.

He would need just a little more if he had to buy the GD70 from Newegg, right now he would get 15 back in MIR's.

The 955 is good enough for now, so finding a good motherboard is more important that having a better looking case.

I personally would consider that $100 GD70, and if not I would get one of those cases and go for the GD65 or the
AsRock Deluxe3! That is if you only have 200$, I would get a 890FX board, they are nice!

    my setup=965, 890FXA-UD5, 212+, Cm 692 adv!
