asus p5q pro 256k memory chip problems

do the bios updates fix the problem with running memory chips with 256k chips on them. Put some new memory and it went dead. Old memory works fine. Crucial said I had the right ones.

You didn't provide info about the Crucial kit that you bought, but if it's the correct one, then it may be DOA. Do all modules fail to work?

I went ahead and flashed the bios. Don't like doing that as I have produced a few boat anchors. All memory now working. When researching I found some notes about 8GB failing. Upgraded the bios to late 2008 and the problem seems to be fixed. Thanks for the reply. Gary
