If the computer has been online, and you do not have any sort of virus
protection, it may be serious.

It's still pretty new. Have you contacted customer support where you bought
it?

If you don't have anything precious on it, you might consider a system
restore from the disks. A little more time consuming, but probably less
headache and more satisfying than customer support -- unless you speak
panjabi.

1)Find antyvirus that boot up from CD. Check the system.
2)Try to puch F8 when Windows starts ... it's Fail-Safe mode .... most of
system services aren't loaded then virus "connected" to that kind service
won't interfere ... this is the moment to backup your data before
reinstallation.
3) Format all partitions (I has one of virus that cannot be removed full'y ,
because it was building a self copy from RAM when you turned off system ,
and second copy he has in DLL's libraries whitch he was creating
dynamically) . Then start installation (non connected computer to net) ,
after instal turn on firewall , install SP1 ( it's required for some new
patches like LSASS fault) .. then install SP2.
4) Turn off "restoring system" in XP.
