Check my Rig compatibility

Hi everyone! I'm looking into buying a new Rig and I wanted to know If what I chose will all work together. Please look over the list and let me know if I made a mistake or if I can modify parts to cheaper models or need to upgrade them. Thanks!
(The computer will be Used for Lan/Internet gaming On a Sharp 42" HDTV. Diablo 3, Borderlands, Mass Effect 3, Dragon age 2)

EDIT: I've changed a couple things.
New Lian Li case is $30 from craigslist:

the power supply is now Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W Continuous Power:

And I'm TOTALY getting the gtx 460!:

Also, instead of the mushkin RAM I'm getting WINTEC AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161279

I figure I needed better power supply since the GTX 460 requires two 6 pin power cables. And the Wintec DDR3 had way better reviews for the same price as the mushkin. So, the total so far is... $340 (after mail in rebates)

Any tips or suggestions? I'm getting ready to buy in 2 days

  1. budget? do you need an OS? monitor resolution?

    pls fill this out: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice
  2. MB => Consider going with an 800 series chipset for USB 3.0 and SATA 6. The ASRock 870 Extreme3 is a popular choice (good features at a good price).

MEM => That memory is OK at best. G.SKILL Ripjaws is a good option.

PSU => Better to go with a Corsair or Antec than OCZ.

That Motherboard only supports ddr3 1600. would the ddr3 1333 work with it?
Also is the n460gtx better then the hd5770?
And is that 380watt PSU going to be powerful enough?

what about the BIOSTAR A780L3L AM3 AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard that I listed up top? could I still use ite to save a little money? would it still work with the new graphics card and PSU? I really have no use For SLI ever.

Is there anything other than SLI that the ATX board u mentioned has?
  9. The one I mentioned is not SLI capable, in fact AMD and SLI do not work well at all (the only sli capable boards are old chipsets that are not very optimized for current gpu's)
I suggested that mobo because it is the best cheap am3 board out there, it is from Asrock which is a subsidiary of ASUS, very good quality for the price.

    The Biostar board will work.
  10. Great! Thanks a bunch. It looks like the extra $25 for the GTX 460 is totally worth it! I saw some benchmark comparisons and it is a whopping 65% increase in performance!!
I'm sold on it! Thanks Zooted for the info.
I'll also look into that earthwatts 380w.
