.. the UPS i currently use is an APC ES-550
to be honest i have a few things plugged into it.. a yamaha 01x audio mixer and a 19" dell lcd on battery backup, and a yamaha p70 keyboard and speakers plugged into the surge protection ports,.. but id be willing to dedicate it to the pc if it can supply adequate power

does it fit the bill or do you think i need to spend more mmoonneeyy

oh wow,, i totally didnt factor that in when considering this build.. and broke the bank as it was..

im seeing a lot of 300 to 400 dollar ups' in the 850va range.. which will mean itll be a loong time before i boot up this $750 build

i know a ups is no thing to skimp on.. but are there any recommended units for a bit less economical damage?

Been using a Cyberpower 1500 unit for a year and a half no problem.
It's been excellent and is dead quiet, plus i get over 40+min back-up if i want it.

i was just about to ask about cyberpower..

i see the apc's are so much more expensive and that made me concerned about cyberpower's quality but your post is reassuring.. i think i might go for the CP850PFCLCD at 109 incl s/h

still have to wait a bit but its progress none the less

thanks

that answers another one of my questions..

i saw this deal at compusa for a 900va @ $109:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1523015&CatId=234

..the same price for the 850va from newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842102131&cm_re=cyberpower_pfc-_-42-102-131-_-Product

..now i understand why

ill definatly go with the pfc model from newegg.. and the one you posted was indeed nice.. but im trying to keep the ups in the 100 dollar price range

you guys are a great help.. thanks again!
