:hello: . I'm swapping my old dell Pentium 4 (with hyper-threading @ 2.6Ghz) with my mum for her newer athlon 64 system (Socket AM2 @ 2.7Ghz).
The mobo is an ASrock N68-s (link below)

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=N68-S

and uses BIOS version P1.50 (CPU support list below)

http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=N68-S

Was looking online and I have found a good deal on an athlon ii x3 400e (checked all the feedback and everything and seems fine, plus cheap)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-II-X3-400E-Socket-AM2-AM3-CPU-Triple-Core-/320566807305?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item4aa3454b09#ht_4063wt_1139

Stupid question, but will it work?
Am quite sure it will but dad doesn't want me to buy until he has seen evidence that it'll be compatible.
Could some1 tell me if it is please?

Oh yeah and was hoping to get something like an hd 5450 or 5550 or something like that because it's better than onboard video and has dedicated vram too.

You have posted all the proof he should need. The MB lists it as compatible in its specs and also in the supported cpu list as well. If you're buying a OEM chip, (NO CPU COOLER) be sure you have a compatible cooler, or buy one. It looked like you might be buying just the chip, no HSF included. A decent aftermarket cooler will run 30$$ USD. I am sure you can locate a suitable one in your area or online. If you need any help there, just post it back, or begin a new thread.
