Random crashes with Saphire 5870 1GB

I recently bought a saphire 5870 to replace my Asus dual fan 4890. MB is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128082 PSU is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002

I use a dell 1080p display. The first crash was the ATI "grey screen of death" while playing fallout new vegas on maxed settings with vsync off. After that, I used drivercleaner and wiped all display drivers while in safe mode, then reinstalled the newest Catalyst software package and application profiles. It recently crashed while playing xplane 9 in a small window with maxed settings, blank white screen with an annoying noise.

I think I'll just wait until the 69xx comes out and then grab either one of those or a nvidia equivalent.

Then try different driver, like 10.4, 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 or even from the CD itself.
Use driversweeper between uninstall the old one and install the new one...
