Firmware update disabled my wireless router

Last response: in Networking

I have a Motorola WR850G that I have been using at home for wireless internet access. I updated to the latest firmware and now the router is unable to keep me connected for much longer than about 15-20 minutes. No internet, I can't log into the router, nothing. I have tried an ethernet connection straight to the back of the router instead of wireless, but I get the same result. If I push the reset button on the back of the router, everything comes back up, but only temporarily. Does anyone have a copy of the old firmware, 4.03? I know next to nothing about networking, so if anyone has any ideas, please use small words because I won't understand. Thanks.

Yeah, I reflashed it with the newer firmware, but that made no difference. I finally heard from Motorola a few days after that, here's what they said.

Dear Brett,

I apologize for the inconvenience you are having with this product. I am sorry
but once the new firmware is released the old one is took down and not avaiable
any longer.

If you need any more assistance with this contact us back by email or by phone
at 1-877-466-8646, and I would like to thank you for choosing Motorola.

I immediately replied that was of no use to me and asked if they had any other ideas, but, of course, no reply. Anyway, I just took it back and exchanged it for a new one, unfortunately it had to be for the same thing. I won't be buying anything Motorola anymore.
