PCI 2.0 and PCI 2.1

I've spent the last few minutes searching the forums for the difference in PCI 2.0 and PCI 2.1 and found absolutely nothing. Just a quick question about what the difference in the two is, and if a 2.0 VGA will work in a 2.1 VGA? Thank you. =)

So is it safe to say that the PCI Express is like a VGA series number? Where they can link between the same series, just as a PCI 2.0 can work with a PCI 2.1? But just with upgrades.
