My motherboard is Intel D945GCCR.

On its spec sheet, it says it's got 8 USB 2.0 ports, and thats the number of USB I have on this mobo.

But when I looked into the device manager, it shows that it's USB 1.1 (well, it doesnt show "enhanced USB", which I found from a site is required if u have a USB 2.0 port)

What can I do to turn my 1.1 port to 2.0 port??

please reply!

thx in advance!

Solution
All these cheap USB sticks have cheap controller, u need to pay $25 for 16GB to get better speed transfer.

Corsair makes great USB pen drives, but those cheap ones are the same : )

Well, I didnt see any type of performance boost.
i am transferring gigs of data on a 16 GB sandisk cruzer blade.

My specs are-

intel pentium 4 HT 524@ 3.06 GHz
1 GB (2X512MB) DDR2 RAM.
Windows Xp service pack 3.

i am averaging a transfer speed of 4.3 MB/s. :-(

Ive copied stuffs with a cruzer blade before. 4.3MB/s is pretty much what yous should expect. Also your ports appear to be running at 2.0 speeds as 1.1 provides up to 12Mb/s of bandwidth, 4.3MB=~32Mb/s, which means your ports are running at 2.0 speeds.

nah, I thiink the OS is fine. programmergorp himself said it.
Anyway, I am about to get my new rig together in about 5 days, after that, this ancient setu will only be my backup in case something screws up heavily with my new setup.

The following may correct the problem:

In the Device Manager try expanding the Universal Serial Bus controller [+] list and Uninstall from the HUB(s) bottom up. This will stop your USB Keyboard and Mouse so connect a PS/2 mouse or keyboard before starting. After uninstalling reboot; the devices will be reinstalled so be patient.

Nah, no need. As nikorr said, it was those cheap controllers.
i just checked my speeds on my USB 3.0 enabled external HDD. WAs getin 25 MB/s. :-D

So I guess these are just those cheap PDs with their cheap controllers.
