I could use a little help please. Have an evga 8800gtx, lifetime support. There isn't any game I can't play with it, love it, had it for years without a hitch. However, last month it crashed. Evga sent me a replacement (refurb, which I understand). Took 3 weeks, again understandable. Got it Monday, and it crashed Friday. Artifacts on POST. Not me, changed power supplies (both 650w), still same. Put in a 6800gt and works fine, so not the MB (680i). They are RMA again, however I don't wanna keep doing this. Is there a cheap equivalent (SLI is fine) to replace the card on EBAY or something, say like 2 7900 gt in sli? Or maybe a used ATI?
Thanks

Can get this:

TWO XFX GSO VIDEO CARDS 768 MEMORY ON BOTH CARDS - $90
If i sli those will they be equivalent to one 8800gtx. Or is there an older say ATI I can pick up on ebay or something equal to the 8800 gtx?

Which GSO's are they? I know of the 9600GSO 384MB & 9600GSO 512MB but not a 768MB.

Just found out they're sold. Anyways, looking at radeon 5750 and 5850. I read I can put an ATI on my evga 680i board.
I'm into performance. I play a lot of shooters. I just need advice. I spent almost $600 on that 8800 gtx 2 or 3 yrs ago, and can't do it again.
Thanks

I run a pair of 8800GT's which seriously outperform a single 8800GTX but they are old cards now so finding a pair in good condition could be a hard job.

680i mb/intel E6600 clocked/3gb ram/vista/. 75% used for gaming (shooters, mostly. Loved the 8800gtx, played anything on it. Trying to be as cheap as possible without going less.

Just for ease of installation the GTS250 looks good, a slight upgrade from the 8800 and it's around the $100 mark.
The HD5750 has similar performance but will run cooler and, probably quieter but it's a little more expensive and you MAY run into driver issues unless you fully uninstall and sweep the existing Nvidia software from the system.

Ok. One more quick question please. Narrowed it down to GTX 460 great reviews. Now, the regular 1gb one, or the evga "superclocked" one. I can get the regular 1gb on ebay for $125. Remember this is replacing the 8800 GTx. Thanks
Joe

Personally I would go for the Gigabyte model for it has some cooling for the power vrm which most do not and is one of the leading causes of failure for the GTX460. If you go for the MSI cards then you will need to mod them but that is cheap as well very easy.

OK, but this is what I mean:
768 mb 192 bit for $169
1gb 256 bit for $199
Then there is one for $199 with a core clock of 760mhz
See what I am trying to say. Appreciate your input
