Specs for Esxi 4.1 Server

I am new to this so I want some advice.

I want to build a PC to install Esx 4.1 and I am struggling with the hardware. Would someone be able to advice me on the hardware I can use - I tried reading the HCL whitelist but am getting confused.
The system I build would need to have 64bit Processor, 16GB or Ram, 2TB of storage using SATA drives ( Would be good if I can fit in 4-6 drives) and two nic cards. I have not used ESX before so need some urgent help on this for some work at home.

If you're not getting enough info out of the VMware Compatibility Guide you might want to try locating a VMware specific forum and asking there.
