So my motherboard died, much to my dismay. I have a new one, but now realize that I have to reinstall Windows to get everything up and running again. I don't have an installation CD, but can get a hold of one eventually I'm sure.
Two questions: If I use the same mobo as before by a different manufacturer (I had the XFX nForce 780, would be looking at EVGA or something) would I still have to reinstall the OS?
If/when I do reinstall, am I going to lose all my information, games, etc?
Thanks so much for the help. This has been a nightmare ><

What is your current board make and model number? If it's oem for a dell, hp, etc system, then you may also need a new windows coa number to go with a non oem board. You may actually save a little plus your files by getting another identical board on ebay instead of changing it.
