I'm using intel's G31 chipset and from what i've read i understand that this motherboard uses Pci-Express 1.1 interface and i'm running an ATI HD5770 card which is 2.0 or even 2.1 ( dont know how to identify) Am i suffering perfomance loss ? would i see performance increase if i'd upgrade to a motherboard that has a pic-express 2.1 interface?

PCI-E 1.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0. the bandwidth of each (for the exact number look them up on wiki) is more then enough for the ATI 5770 so you are not suffering any hold back in graphic potential. you can hold off on any mobo upgrades until you are ready for a new CPU.

Generally, despite the lower bandwidth, the difference in performance is negligible.
