Advice on a graphics card (WoW)

Hey everyone I need some advice on what graphics card I can get to run WoW better. I have a Dell Dimension E520 with:

MS Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit SP2
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz
Intel G965 Express Chipset Family

I have tried WoW with this setup, and it runs decently, but I have to run on the worst possible settings. What do you guys recommend I get to allow for a better experience?

  1. ^i would also agree with a 5670
If you can spare some extra money get some more RAM,1g or 2g should do you fine.
What resolution will you be playing at?
  2. I will be playing 1152x864
Will the graphics card make a huge improvement or just a small one? I've never dealt with this before so I am just wondering
  3. Over an intergreated grahpics card like the one you have it will make a HUGE difference,at that resolution you will be playing WoW on Ultra settings.

you have the old DELL 305w PSU, its actually not half bad.

get a Nvidia GT 240 DDR5 or ATI 5670 PCI-E 2.0 card (avoid the 2.1). the ati is the better overall card but nvidia handles WoW better so both will give you similar performance.

Nvidia, they have some great deals after rebate

    ^ +1 ....well stated.

At 1152x864, you should have no problems.
  5. Yeah at that resolution you will be able to turn all eye candy up to infinity and still have very very good frame rates.
  6. even though the gt 240 will give better frame rates of those two I'd probably suggest a 5670 as WoW supports dx11 and the 240 will not be able to use it... then again as you're not using windows 7 you won't either, but if you ever do upgrade your rig and keep the card it'd come in handy

*edit ... wow i'm bad at spelling
  7. Regarding the ATI 5670, does it matter which card I need to get on the site? They have a few and the prices vary
