Gateway 6840 15e shutdown

Gateway 6840 15e, four months old. cpu locks up after 10 min from cold. Might be ps or cpu cooler. What to check? What parts to RELIABLY replace with?

well, you could cool your pc with liquid nitro and i still dont think you could get your pc to lock up..
I think its failing hardware.How does your pc lock up by the way?Does it just lock up or does it give a warning message before lock up?

Correction, it is a Gateway DX4320-10. When watching a video it starts to slow down, then pixilate, the lock. No warning. No response AT ALL. Must unplug to shut down. Just turned it on to see if fans run, YES. After five Min. I get a faint hint of hot electronics (smells like a overheated resistor).

It looks like your temps maybe a bit too high.Could you go into your bios and confirm this for me?

CPU Temp 30, Sys temp 36, CPU fan spd 1956 rpm, Sys fan 1243 rpm,
Computer seemed (???) to work after checking bios, it went into system repair function.

What is proper fan speed, I did not find it on line. Is there a way to increase fan speed. On one gateway site tehy mention 3000+ RPM (unknown sys model)
