Can and am2+ cpu fit in an am2 socket

hi i have a shuttle pc with an am2 socket and i have another pc with an am3 socket the pc with an am3 socket has an AMD Phenom X4 9850 2.5Ghz AM2+ I am thinking of upgrading to the new 6 core phenom am3s however I am wondering if my old cpu will fit into this am2 shuttle pc

It will fit in but it will only work if the board supports it.

Hello, If your other pc has an am2+ cpu installed then it can't be an am3 motherboard on it. However it can possibly play with am3 CPUs depending on model. Therefore you need to tell us both PCs motherboard model to see what they can take.
