Well yes it can.

There test system run a i7 920, which at stock is a fast then a 955, but give the use of the giant Mega cooler, i'de there system is at the popular 4ghz OC, and give the triple channel CL6 (that is really tight for DDR3), it will make a difference.

This is not to say that the 6870 is bottle necked by the 955, at least not by much when it comes to most games, but synthetic benchmarks tend to stress the CPU a bit more than most modern games do.

Try pushing your 955 higher, if that improves the benchmark, than you have your answer, if it doesnt, than you have a problem on your hands.

darkling, you have the reverse situation, your i5 is being throttled by the 460 :p  (unless you have one of those crazy OC 460s or you are using your i5 at stock speeds).

But what ya expect, the 955 runs at least $50 less than the cheapest quad i5 :p

I cant set mine to 1920x1200 but i did run mine on 1680x1050 and i got 28.6fps average which is 1.6fps less than BenchmarkReviews.com's average fps. As you can see i run a Q6600 @ 2.93 (check sig).

Im thinking there might actually be something wrong with your setup and your 6870 can run faster. Highly unlikely your CPU bottlenecks your card that much.

It would also be very helpful if you give us your system details. We cant help you if you just say "hey, i got a AMD 6870 and it is slow! help!" ea Mobo, Ram, ATI Driver version and so on...
