Hi i jsut got my new gaming rig up and running

I did the ati overdrive software and it finished the values say
GPU clock 840 Mhz
Memory clock 1190 mhz.

at the bottom it says

current values
Gpu clock 300mhz and memory clock 1190Mhz

Shouldn't my gpu be at 840mhz.

300 seems pretty low unless i'm not understanding a multiplyer or something

ATI and nvidia cards throttle down in 2D mode, and looking at the CCC pannel is 2D mode :)

Play any 3D video game in windowed mode and than check speeds, it should be your OCed settings :)

My buddy just told me i screwed myself going intel chipset with ati card.

Is this true? i've never read or heard of anything to support this with empirical data.

Type "5850 benchmark review" and almost every single benchmark you will find will be done on ain intel chip. Your friend is wrong.

are those settings pretty good for the hd 6850?

I have to say i'm quite disappointed in the wow performance, I was recomended about half high half good. I can run it on high at 1920 x 1080 with 45min fps mostly 60 though.

I was kind of expecting ultra :(

My build is

i5 760 at 3.0ghz
8gb ddr3 1600mhz
hd 6850
750w modular thx PS
asus p7p55d-e pro mobo

People always underestimate what WoW demands.

However, you should be able to use mostly Ultra settings, you just have to turn down the shadows a notch or 2. That's what really hurts the performance. But don't expect more than low to mid 30's in Dalaran.
