Mixing 2 sets of rams in asrock x79 extreme 9

I am currently running 4x 4gb of ripjaws X 1600mhz cl9 ram in my X79 board. Even though they are 2 sets of dual channel from my Z68 board, they work fine in quad channel.

However, I need to add more ram and my hsf is block the first ram slots on both sides, which means I can only go lower profile ram.

If I were to get another set of ram, say g-skill or kvr 1333mhz cl9, will my ram still run in quad channel, just at 1333mhz. Or will it totally not run?

As long as the channel pairs are matching, you will be fine. But you have to keep the timing, voltage, etc the same for all 4 sticks. Match the specs to the original.
