I've been reading some posts lately about how core i3 2100 (3.1ghz dual core) can beat a phenom ii 925 (2.8ghz quad core). Is this true? And does anyone know which AMD processor is equivalent to the core i3 2100?

Core and speeds match up with the AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1GHz, but Intel has the better cache.

Nothing AMD has right now is equivalent to Intel SB..
If we were to see the i3 clock on clock with a pII X4 it would be good enough to equal itself to the i3 and sometimes beat it vice versa.

For gaming, I believe the Phenom II 970 is equal to the i3 2100.

Nope. The 2100 spanks the 970 in gaming.
