Going to upgrade to 8gb of ram later.

cd/dvd drive - Samsung 22x DVD Burner - SATA

all input appreciated.
and are there any parts I should change?

Looks very well thought out.

Make sure to connect that hard drive to a Sata 6GB port (Marvell 9128 chip) and not one of the 3GB ports.

Upgrading memory later means trying to buy old parts to match, which you may not be able to do.

my budget is about 1000-1500$, im in Canada live about an hour's drive from Toronto, and monitor i'm not sure yet, i just wanted opinions on my choices so far.

I'm not building exclusively for gaming, but i would like to be able to play most recent games,

as for memory upgrade I was planning on waiting a couple months to see how well it runs, and then maybe add a couple more sticks of ram depending.
