New build: OS question

I am currently looking to put together a new build with a fresh operating system on an SSD. I've never installed an operating system before, so i just want to make sure i have the process correct before i buy the components. Once all the hardware is in place, is it simple as putting the windows disc in the dvd drive and booting the disk?

Pretty much, easy as that. I only have experience with Windows though.

Pretty much, yes.

Assuming your boot order in the BIOS lists the DVD drive as before everything else, this should work like you have described.

One thing you will want to do is disconnect all hard drives other than the one you are installing the OS on before you turn on the computer.

Doing this maximally limits confusion and potential data loss.

Boot to the DVD drive and install. Pretty easy.
