LAN problem w W7

Hello,
I'm trying to connect to an external device through a LAN. Connection is good w an old laptop w XP but I can't connect w the new laptop (W7). I turned off all the firewalls, etc.

You've run the networking wizard ? Permitted file sharing on selected folders in the laptop ?

Yes I did run the wizard but it was only trying to reset the IP (which is set to be obtained automatically). I can't see why there would be a file sharing issue but I'll check that. Thanks. - Marty
