Gateway LX6810-01

Hello. I have a 2.3-year-old Gateway LX6810-01. The system started crashing two months out of warranty. I wrote to Gateway and they provided me a download to increase the internal fan's speed, and I can forward that on to you if you need. I did take the computer to a computer guy and he installed a fan in the unit subsequent to me contacting Gateway.

Last week, after many crash dumps and freezes over the 2.3 year period, the computer froze for the last time. The motherboard is now dead.

Brian, it was a great machine. I put a lot into it and enjoyed it, but only got 2.3 years out of it.

How do you know the motherboard is dead?

When the computer is turned on, the front panel will not light. There are sounds omitting from the machine in short sequential beeps. The computer guy took all of the parts out of the computer and verified each one was working correctly. The only one he did not try was the motherboard. He called Gateway. They are out of contract with the company who made the motherboard. Gateway is also now in bankruptcy.
