Is the power connector for pci express cards different from AGP card's power connectors from the power supply? I have a old power supply and wondering if the power connector works for the new pci express card that Im about to buy.

I don't know about AGP, but PCI express card require a 6-pin (or 8-pin for high-end cards) connection. Check on the PSU to make sure that it has enough power to run whatever card you are buying, though.

Most AGP cards do not require a separate power cord. They get their power from the AGP slot only. If it does require a power cord, it is likely going to use the old standard 4 pin connector.

You may need to use a 4 to 6 pin adapter, which should come with your new PCIe video card.
