Xps 600 processor upgrade

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my xps 600 from a pentium 4 chip to a Core 2 Quad Q6600. It's right for the socket type (775) but i need to be sure that it's compatible with the motherboard and BIOS. Help? Oh, and if this processor isn't compatible would someone mind suggesting another. Thanks

both of them are supported by socket lga 775.
And make sure you clean install.I know some members here dont agree with me but clean install your OS.

You need to check with Dell for exact compatibility with the chip that you want to install. Socket compatibly means nothing.
