Weird 4870 problem

A few months now my 4870 is going crazy. It keeps overheating and I am forced to run it way under stock speed just to keep it under 100C. I tried cleaning it with compressed air, but to no avail. Yesterday I noticed something wrong with the fan (I keep it at 100%). The damn thing doesn't suck in air, but expels it... Also no air is coming on the back of the case... have you guys seen anything like this before. I just want to keep the card from exploding until January when I will probably buy a new one (6870 or 6950).

I would be looking to fit an aftermarket cooler to that thing or at least reaply the existing one with new paste.

I don't want to invest in an aftermath cooler when I will be buying a new GPU in January. I don't understand why the erratic behavior of the cooler...
