That depends on a few factors. Why are you looking at an upgrade? The 460 is quite a decent card. What resolution do you game at? And what kind of games? Also, what's you rig configuration?

The GTX 460 is good till 1900x1080. However, add another one in SLI and you're as good as a 570. So it all depends upon what you're looking at.

There is an SLI hack that will allow you to run SLI as long as you have slots.

This has existed since the X58 came out which supported both XFire and SLI without any special hardware besides the extra slots. The hack dupes the driver into thinking it's an X58 MB with SLI support.

If you SLI you could just get another GTX460 which would give you same (or better) performance as a GTX580.

That's what I would do.

^ Agreed! A second 460 would give you a good enough kick, placing you in the same vicinity as the 580. However, if your options are restricted to a single GPU, I'd recommend the GTX570. If budget is a problem, go for the GTX 470.

Keep in mind that the 470 runs hot as hell, but that's not a factor for not getting it. The 570 is what the 480 should've been. If your resolution is 1900x1080, the GTX 470 is good enough. The 570 is pretty steep as of now. I believe it's in the range of $350-$370. The 470 is good enough for upto the resolution I mentioned. Plus, it's cheaper than the 570. Get the Gb Super Overclocked for 299.

Or the MSI Twin Frozr II for 279 with MIR.

Either of the two will give you good performance with lesser noise and heat levels.

you're right 'phenom90' - i know that board - and it's "CF only" cause of the second slot being only x4... and yeah... it'll hurt speeds... (x8 has proven to not take almost any performance hit compared to x16.. but x4 has unfortunately).. stick with 1 card for sure...

I don't think the x4 slot will hurt the performance so much that it still won't at least be equal to a GTX 570 - and at a third of the price.

Really though, a single GTX 460 should be enough if you're not using a 30" monitor.

Maybe you should wait for ATIs 28nm GPUs due out next year. They'll probably kick the living crap out of anything you could buy now.

28nm?? its not the upcoming 6900 series right?? if that is what you mean... that is still far away... maybe i'll just wait for 6900 series and see how they perform then deciding which one i'm gonna get.... i think for sure i won't go cf or sli because i have to change my mobo....
