Motherboard: "ASUS P8Z68-V PRO / GEN3"
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produ [...] %2f%20GEN3

im building my first gaming rig and have everything thing hooked up but a cable from the Front Panel of my case (the HAF X) that reads "1394" on it.

one socket open on my motherboard is the:

"USB 2.0 connectors (10-1 pin USB78; USB910; USB1112)" -BLUE

the manual states: Caution: Never connect a 1394 cable to the usb connectors. Doing so will damage the motherboard.
directly under that: Important: You can connect the front panel USB cable to the ASUS Q-Connector (USB, blue) first, and then install the Q-Connector (USB) to the USB connector onboard if ur chassis supports the front panel usb ports"

The other socket is the:
IEEE 1394a port connector (10-1 pin IE1394_1;IE1394_2) - BLACK

im confused to where i connect my 1394 cable, do i use the ASUS Q-connector and plug it into USB 2.0 connector? or plug it directly into the IEEE 1394a port connector? is a 1394 cable compatible with a 1394a?

PLEASE HELP T.H. :??: :??:

thanks for the quick reply Abekl! :)
it states under:
"USB 2.0 connectors (10-1 pin USB78; USB910; USB1112)" -BLUE

"You can connect the front panel USB cable to the ASUS Q-Connector (USB,blue) first, and then install the Q-Connector (USB) to the USB connector onboard if your chassis supports front panel USB ports."

the key word is can.. do you guys recommend me directly connect, or use the Q-connector for the front panel USB ports? what exactly does this Q-connector do?
