Your opinions on my new build semi budget build.

So this is what I finally went with,

Amd Phenom X2 955 unlocked to X4 (hopefully)

What do you think of the quality? Will it last a bit? Possible upgrade paths that could make it last longer?

  1. I wasnt aware they made a x2 955, or that you could unlock their dual core chips to quad cores. I know some of the x3 can be unlocked to x4.

Yes the black edition seems to be the most reliable when it comes to this, at newegg there seems to be a 80-85% success rate for all four cores and almost all of those who tried to unlock the cores got a third core. It seems like an interesting chance to take, if it doesn't work I'll still be able to oc it to at least 3.8ghz.

    Unlocking X2 955's to X4 915's is quite possible, I unlocked an X2 to an X4 on an older Asus 980a.

    Your system is fine, nothing bottlenecking majorly at all they all flow together.
