How do you communicate with a router

Hello,I have a Net Gear router connected to a cable box and a desk top computer with a wireless Net Gear 2.0 usb adapter. I'm trying to communicate with the router via my desk top using my adapter. Other devices connect to my router so I know I have internet. Also I can not get desk top to search for wireless networks in the area.

Sounds like a problem with the wireless adapter. Check Settings, Control Panel, Sustem, Hardware, Device Manager and see if the adapter is listed or yellow flagged as faulty.

Also check whether computer can connect with the router (and hopefully the internet) when connected to the router via an ethernet cable.
