The i5-760 is the best for your money now. Last we saw the i5-2500k was only about $20 more.

That rocketfish PSU is at best, a marginal PSU to use in a high performance gaming rig. How long have you had it?

for those saying that you have to wait until April for the P67 mobos, that's nonsense. Check ebay and buy from a top-rated seller. The price hasn't gone up, and there are plenty available. Given the issue only effects the SATAII ports it's not big, and you will get a replacement mobo from the manufacturer. The only thing is the irritation of having to reassemble your PC. I'm probably going to take this as a chance to do my usual fan cleaning and maintenance and upgrade a bit.

Let us know how you make out Wampbit.
Many of the small shop sellers just havent taken the trouble to de-activate listings and might not actually sell you the board.

The Gigabyte P67 motherboard got good reviews for overclocking.
Only a year old... well it's a pain to say this but I think you can reuse it.

You'll need to look at everything you're putting in your system that needs power.
What will you be using for video cards?

You could reuse the GTS 250 for a while if you wanted. And I suppose you can use it as a dedicated physix card for games that can use that.
In your budget range I was thinking GTX 560 ti. And if you want to reuse the GTS 250 you'll want to size the PSU for that.

I'l give you an idea of what your build could look like in April. This build includes Windows 7, monitor, and leaves you room in your budget for a keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc...

SATA II vs. SATA III. I understand the SATA II ports are screwed up. Anything in that list have to use those vs. the III ports?

Also, my own personal pref is Asus boards. If you couldn find one of those....that would be nice too. I guess the key is find something with alot of sata III instead of the II.

Ideas?

Intel is talking about starting to ship those boards out by the end of this month. If you want a build that's good for surfing the net and checking emails go with the AMD build. If you want a gaming build that's going to tear up games...well then that would be the 2500K build. It's your call.

If you are planning to get the i5 2500k you need an intel board like the Asus P8P67 PRO is you're an Asus guy...not an AMD board. If I was you I would just wait for the i 2500k. Everything I've read about it is showing it to outperform other options by a huge margin.

You want to look for 1155 for the socket type and P67 if you plan to overclock...H67 is a few dollars cheaper than P67 but not as easy to overclock (I'm not sure if you can even overclock it at all).

Also, I've seen that Spinpoint recommended everywhere as the best hard drive, and it should work well with just about any new motherboard you would consider getting.

I read last night that the chipset fix is being shipped out starting today so it is a matter of them getting the boards fixed and on the market. I think ill wait and get the i5 2500 build that why me suggested

The 760 is an older 1156 cpu and can be over clocked, the new Sandy Bridge cpu's (like the ones with the "K" at the end) are 1155 cpu's.
